World Without Waste

Coca-Cola is driving various recycling and reuse initiatives across the world and with a global commitment for a ‘World Without Waste’; the Company has pledged to collect and recycle the equivalent of 100 percent of its packaging worldwide by 2030. The company is rigorously working to identify diverse projects on innovative waste management solution, as deemed relevant in different countries.

In 2014, Bottlers Nepal Limited along with partners initiated Nepal’s first legal, responsible and environment friendly PET bottle recollection initiative in Kathmandu, ‘PET Bottle Recycling Social Enterprise’; which contributes to a cleaner environment through an efficient and responsible mechanism for collection and disposal of used PET bottles in Kathmandu. This initiative has created and will continue creating sustainable number of green jobs for disadvantaged women, improve the livelihood of thousands of waste workers and contribute towards cleaner environment of Nepal.

In 2019, a similar project has been established in Chitwan, for PET bottle recovery from outside the valley. In addition, through diverse partnerships, particularly with a lead taken by Nepal government, the company has been a part of successful initiations such as declaration of Nepal’s first national park, Chitwan National Park as a plastic free zone and the launch of Everest clean-up campaign (#CleanOurPride).

World Without Waste

In 2018, Coca-Cola globally announced World Without Waste, with an aim of collecting and recycling the equivalent of all bottles and cans that it produces by 2030. In support to its global vision, Coca-Cola in Nepal has taken upon many recycling initiatives in order to achieve the “World Without Waste” objectives since the past decade through its several projects.
